Rachel Anne Maddow was born on April 1, 1973, in Castro Valley, California.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University as well as a doctorate in political science from Oxford University. She is best known as an American television news program host and for being the host of her show, The Rachel Maddow Show. Aside from being a host, she is also an author.
