Pauley Perrette is an American actress, businesswoman, and civil rights advocate who gained prominence following her appearance in the TV-series NCIS. She was born on March 27, 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since childhood, she had an interest in crime. Because of this, she chose to pursue a degree in criminal justice from Valdosta State University.

Perrette’s career launched after she stumbled into a director of an advertising agency in New York. From there, she relocated to Los Angeles and started doing small roles. Some of these roles were in 24 and Frazier. In 2001, she had a recurring role in Special Unit 2. The success of the sci-fi/comedy series led her to NCIS’ Abby Sciuto, considered to be her biggest break. In 2020, she led the sitcom Broke, but it was later axed after one season.
